Tommee Tippee: Closer to Nature During Meals – Giveaway

Happy New Year! Here’s another terrific review from Kristin. Bon Apetit!

Have I mentioned how much I love Tommee Tippee products?  Because I do.  A ton.  They are BPA and phthalate-free and created with intelligence.  Clearly they have done their research (and talked to Moms).

Tommee Tippee Feeding Products

Tommee Tippee recently sent me a number of feeding/weaning items to try with MD (thank you to Tommee Tippee for the items)!  MD refuses to take his milk from any form of bottle, but when I placed the pumped milk into the new Explora soft spout sippy cup, he was immediately intrigued.  And, willing!  Finally, after six months of random feeding pit stops and shortened dinners, we are able to feed MD while we are away from the house!  Now, I can feel free to get that haircut that I’ve been putting off for months (hmm, since last November actually).  Anyway, the Explora Sippy Cup is completely spill proof and perfect for six months and older

Tommee Tippee Bottle Warmer

And, with the travel bottle warmer (and food warmer), I can warm up his milk (or his baby food) wherever we go!  This is truly the best thing ever!  There is a thermal thermos inside a large warming carafe that you can fill with hot water to warm your bottles or baby food jars.  No longer will we place a chilly bottle under the warm tap water in a rest area until it is lukewarm…or between our legs while in a traffic jam to “heat” it up.  The only downside to the warmer is the size…it does not fit inside my diaper bag…but, it easily stashes inside the car, and that’s good enough for me.  I recently tried this out on our trip home for the holidays, and the water was still boiling hot after four hours in the car!  Worked like a charm, especially when we hit traffic and could not get off the road for a quick feeding.

Tommee Tippee Explora Products

Other exciting products from Tommee Tippee include the weaning bowls, the Explora feeding spoons, and the Explora Easi-mat.  The weaning bowls, spoons, and mat are BPA and phthalate-free and dishwasher and microwave safe, so you can feed your baby without worrying about the chemicals.  The easi-mat attaches simply to the weaning bowls, so your baby cannot dislodge the bowl from the table.  This has proven to be perfect for MD, as he is so intrigued by the bowl and spoons, but does not have the control to keep from knocking things off his tray.  The mat keeps the bowl in place, even for the most ornery eater.  The spoons are for nine months and older, but MD loves to gum on them and I know they are safe for him to do so. He also loves to teethe on the “Chewther!”  It helps support oral development, and he loves to swing it back and forth as well.

MD Dines A La Tommee Tippee

Tommee Tippee has a ton of other great products including Explora weaning bowls with lids, heat-sensing weaning spoons, and a variety of “sippee” cups for all ages!  They make perfect baby shower gifts, and are great for new parents!

Are you a fan of Tommee Tippee too?  One Babies Gotta Have It reader will win a $100 gift pack of Tommee Tippee products including a 3 Pack of the Closer to Nature 5 ounce Baby Feeding Bottles, 2 Closer to Nature Insulated Bottle Bags, the Closer to Nature Breast Pad Starter Pack, A Chewther Teether, and a 2 Pack of Milk Feeding Bibs valued at over $100! Happy New Year!

Think Geek to Beat the Dinner Battle

If your partner speaks just a little bit of Klingon…this is the stocking stuffer for him…I mean for your baby. Thanks to Think Geek for sending Kristin these awesome products to review!

Affiliate Link - Star T rek Enterprise Light-up Bib and Spoon on Amazon

Are you a Geek?  A “Trekkie?”  Or, do you know someone who is?  Then, Think Geek is the best shop for you!  If you just cannot live without a titanium spork or a Star Trek Enterprise Light-up Feeding System (for your baby), then you should head to the place where all the “Smart Masses” go!

Affiliate Link - Star Trek Enterprise Light Up Feeding Set from Think Geek on Amazon

Although we are not Trekkies here, we did enjoy the new movie, and our three-year-old son, CW, loves all things that fly and/or light up! So, when we received the Star Trek Enterprise Light-up Feeding System, he immediately decided he wanted to use it.  For months we have been fighting with him at dinnertime, begging and bargaining to get him to eat!  Enter the Enterprise and he was begging for more applesauce and rice so that he could use his spoon longer! Even though the spoon is for a younger child (over one year – the spoon is BPA and Phthlate Free), CW loves it and looks forward to using it every day!  Our six-month-old son was intrigued by the lights, but didn’t really know what to do with it!

Affiliate Link - Star Trek Enterprise Light Up Feeding Set from Think Geek on Amazon

The Star Trek Enterprise Light-up Feeding System comes complete with three spoon inserts, a light-up Enterprise handle, and a light-up bib.  The bib and handle cannot be submerged in water, but can be wiped off with a wet cloth.  The spoon inserts are dishwasher safe, though.  They also sell an Illuminated Jet Bib Feeding System.

Affiliate Link - Show Dad How on Amazon.com

Think Geek has “toys” and books for both children and adults.  One of my friends received “Show Dad How” an illustrated guide to parenting, which may just be the funniest thing I have ever read (and this comes from an English major)!

Head over at Mach speed to catch their holiday sale, and to check out all their geeky-but-fun loot!

StinkyKids for Your Stinky Kid – Giveaway

StinkyKids Plush Dolls

Don’t know about yours, but my kid is a sweet sweet girl…aaaaand she’s also a little stinker.  Britt Menzies, a Mama and an artist/entrepreneur, first had the idea for StinkyKids when her daughter Emma requested that Britt paint her as a ballerina.  From that one painting grew an entire world–a world in which a whole gang of SkinkyKids have adventures, get into mishaps, and learn to be “Leaders of Good.”

Affiliate Link - StinkyKids and the Runaway Scissors on Amazon

I met the StinkyKids a few weeks ago during an amazing afternoon at the Madame Alexander Factory here in New York City, which happens to be less than a mile from my house and I never ever knew it!  After being set loose on the magical Madame Alexander Heritage Gallery and showroom several NYC bloggers, their kids and I were introduced to Britt Menzies and the StinkyKids.  And I have to say, I entered the showroom with two little boys who, in a room absolutely chock full of the most engaging variety of dolls and stuffed animals–I mean hundreds and hundreds of enticing dolls, went straight for the StinkyKids dolls arrayed on one table to the side.  Britt told us all about her journey to create the StinkyKids, and then went on to read her award-winning first book, StinkyKids and the Runaway Scissors. It’s a clever picture book for kids ages 10 and under, in which the StinkyKids get into trouble, but with creativity and help from Mom are able to solve their problems and be leaders for good.  See, this is what I like about these dolls.  They aren’t perfect.  They’re cute and cuddly but sometimes they insist on wearing their bathing suits, get gum in their hair, and are just little stinKers.

StinkyKid Britt

The dolls themselves are plush and cuddly and safe for kids ages 0 and up–hello those hard-to-buy for 18 month olders!  And there are girl StinkyKids and boy StinkyKids…each adorable, each with his or her own personality, interests and look, and each one a Leader of Good.  My daughter giggled with glee when she heard the name StinkyKids, loved the books and trading cards, and put StinkyKid Britt on her Christmas List.  Score!  StinkyKids dolls are available at Barnes and Noble online, Target.com and our affiliate, Amazon.comStinkyKids and the Runaway Scissors and also the second book StinkyKids See a Full Moon can be found at Barnes and Noble in brick and mortar or online, or on Amazon.

And here’s the best news, one Babies Gotta Have It reader will win a StinkyKid doll of her choice and a signed copy of the StinkyKids book, StinkyKids and the Runaway Scissors just in time for the holidaysWant to enter?  Read on!

Babies Gotta Have Vintage Designs – Ashleybug Organics Giveaway

Here’s another great review and giveaway from Kristin! Enjoy!

MD in a Super Cute Bib from Ashleybug Organics

Do you have a messy, drooling little one? A baby with enough drool to hydrate an entire small country? I do! And, Ashleybug Organics offers so many fun, all-natural drool bibs, pacifier clips, and burp cloths/lovies in super cute vintage designs! I particularly love the Sheep pattern (as seen on MD), but there are so many great patterns from which to choose. For example, I think the Apple Tree pattern would be perfect for a sweet baby girl, and the Elephant and Sailboat patterns are just adorable for those special little boys in your life!

The Sheep Pattern from Ashleybug Organics

The Ashleybug Organic products are handmade with soft organic cotton and backed with organic flannel (which is great to keep them in place on your shoulder even when your little one does not stay still). Each fabric is designed and sewn with the best quality organic cotton. This means that instead of conventional cotton, this fabric is grown without any fertilizers or pesticides, and on land that has had three years to remove any toxic chemicals from the soil (from previous other plants). I’m always willing to spend a little more to buy organic because giving your babies the pampered, organic treatment they deserve, for a fraction of the cost of the fancy baby boutiques, should be a priority. Especially when your little one has sensitive skin like mine (and you will love that they have been prewashed in organic washing detergent)!

Ashleybug Organics Bib and Burp Cloth Set

Although my little boy isn’t quite ready for the solids yet, his Ashleybug Organic bib and burp cloth are getting a ton of use. And, they are holding up incredibly well through all the drool, spit-up, and washings! The drool bib has a snap closure at the back, which is great for keeping it in place without the scratchiness of Velcro. But, the feature I love the most: the drool bib is short…so those little hands cannot push it up over his nose and mouth. I don’t worry when I strap on the Ashleybug drool bib, whereas, I refuse to use most bibs because MD inevitably pushes them up over his face and I’m paranoid enough to think he’ll suffocate! If you are a “mamanoid” like me, I am certain you will love this bib!

With the approaching holiday season, can you think of a friend with a new baby? Ashleybug carries great one-of-a-kind baby gifts and baby shower gifts. Or, if you want to treat yourself to a few stain-free, organic bibs and burpees, you are sure to have a clean, dry shoulder even if your little one drools like mine!

Hurry to Ashleybug Organics to find your own adorable products or gifts!

Thank you so much to Ashley of Ashleybug Organics for sending Kristin the bib and burp set to try out with MD. And I’m so excited to say that just in time for the holidays or the arrival of those December babies, one lucky Babies Gotta Have It reader will win a Bib and Burp Cloth Set of their choice! Pump Up The Value – The Avent Twin Electric Breast Pump

Thanks so much to Avent for sending Kristin the Twin Electronic Breast pump for her to review! Check out her thoughts below!

Philips AVENT BPA Free Twin Electric Breast Pump

The Philips Avent Twin Electronic Breast Pump, made in England, is a convenient and well-designed electronic breast pump.  It rivals the Medela Pump-in-Style in quality and efficiency, although I found all of the cords and connections to be a bit cumbersome compared to the Medela.  The Avent, however, comes with a nice bag that could be used for anything, as the mechanical pieces are not housed within it (as is the case with the Medela).  Both come with a compact insulated storage case, but the Avent’s case is a bit roomier, which is nice for longer trips.

Philips AVENT BPA Free Twin Electric Breast Pump

The Avent comes with multiple bottles, nipples, caps, breast pads, and so much more.  I am thoroughly impressed by the BPA-free bottles (as is my 2-month-old baby).  The quick-start guide was invaluable for the first use, but now that I know how it all hooks up I think I will find it much simpler in the future.  The idea I loved the most, and found completely unique, was the manual pump handle that lets you control how fast or slow you want the pumping to happen.  This is a unique memory system that remembers your own rhythm for future use, so it is completely personalized to meet your needs. To begin, you manually pump at the rhythm that is comfortable for you, and then you push the button on the handle so that the pump takes over automatically. The pump then automatically repeats the rhythm you established in your last two manual pumps. From that point onward you can always just use the button, there’s no need to manually pump again, unless you need to change the rhythm to mimic your baby as his “pull” grows stronger.

The pump is easy to start and stop because the button is right at your fingertips.  I found the cushioned 5-petal massage cushions to be uncomfortable, but the pump worked fine for me without them.

Avent Twin Electronic Breast Pump

Overall, this is a great pump that is extremely comfortable to use and a great value!  Why spend double the time pumping manually, when you can pump both breasts simultaneously (or, you can do one at a time if that fits your needs too)!   For much less money than the Medela Pump-In-Style, you get just as many accessories and excellent ease of use!  If you’re in the market for a pump, I think you should grab that fancy bar code registry gun (you know you love it) and dash to your favorite baby store, or just prop your feet up and fire up your computer (you can buy it at Amazon.com) and register for an Avent Twin Electric Breast Pump today!

A Manual Breast Pump That “Tips” the Scales

Contributing writer, Kristin is back with another great product review: The Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Manual Breast Pump. I love that it is indeed closer to nature–no batteries or electricity required. Completely off the grid! How does Kristin like it? Read on and see.

Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Manual Breast Pump

Pregnancy brings stretch marks, swollen feet, and pure euphoria.  But delivery is followed by the breastfeeding versus formula debate.  Although I firmly believe that each mom has to decide what is best for her own situation, formula just does not give babies quite the same start as breastfeeding.  Breastfeeding has been proven to be better for both mom and baby, even though formula has improved in recent years.  With Worldwide Breastfeeding Week fast approaching (August 1-7), it seems appropriate to look into a manual breast pump.  For more information on breastfeeding and World Breastfeeding Week, click here.

Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Manual Breast Pump

Tommee Tippee’s Closer to Nature Manual Breast Pump tips the scales!  With BPA- and phthalate-free parts, it is such a comfortable pump to use, easy to clean, and completely portable.  After using only a mechanical dual pump (the Medela Freestyle Pump-in-Style) with my previous son, I will admit that I was skeptical about using a manual pump.  But, the manual pump is easier to use while nursing on the other breast and is much more portable.  In fact, I have used it in the car recently.  Without all the wires and tubes, it is quicker to set up and clean up.

The most important feature, though, is the steri-box that comes with it.  The steri-box is perfect for storing the breast pump parts, but the main purpose of it is for steam cleaning the parts in the microwave.  It is a simple and quick process.  If you don’t want to take the time to do this, however, nearly all of the parts are top-rack dishwasher safe!

My only negative thought was that it was difficult to see the measurements as I was pumping, so I was unsure of when the bottle or the smaller storage cups were full.  So, I would have to pull the pump off my breast in order to see how much space was left for milk, which caused a bit of a mess!  Otherwise, I love this easily portable, easily cleanable, and easily usable alternative to the mechanical breast pump!  The Tommee Tippee has won me over manual pumping!

The Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Manual Breast Pump is available at Babies R Us.

Frozen Kids Meals That Taste Like Food – Giveaway

Check out the video to see the Bean’s response to her first few bites of the Spaghetti Loops Bolognese dinner from Kidfresh.  Let me assure you…the Bean is a very very picky eater.  A big part of the reason I agreed to do this review in the first place.  Oh, and I tasted the meal as well.  It was yummy.

So here’s the deal with Kidfresh and why I like them a whole whole lot: on their website they have a page that is called “Our Promise.”‘ On it, they list what it is that they stand for: great taste that kids love, 100% natural goodness (no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives), hidden veggies, superior nutrition, BPA free and green packaging, and socially responsible conduct.  Go to their website to find a store near you that offers Kidfresh–I found them at my local Whole Foods.  But they are also at Shop Rite, Fairway, Shaws and more.  Do make sure you can get them in your area before you enter the giveaway, however.  They are expanding their market all the time.

Sure, we all know that making your kids a healthy, veggie-packed meal every night is the best idea.  But sometimes it’s just not practical. Sometimes Mama’s gotta have a night out.  That’s when babies gotta have Kidfresh.

And here’s the best part.  Three Babies Gotta Have It readers will win coupons for two free Kidfresh dinners.  Want to enter?  Read on!

I am a skeptic by nature. I do not like cooked carrots, let alone anything remotely mushy or lumpy. With a nearly-three-year-old boy and a growing pregnant belly, I have little time for an extra step in my cooking. But, I do love to cook, and my son, CW, loves to help.

The Baby Brezza in Action

I pulled out the Baby Brezza, read the directions, and began my kitchen adventure. Much to my surprise, I found that the Baby Brezza, unlike other food processors, is compact, easy to clean (most parts are dishwasher safe), BPA-free, a steamer/blender-in-one, and all-around simple. I love the mini-suction cups on the bottom that help keep it in place. After adding water to the steam chamber, I just chopped up some carrots, threw them in and pressed “Steam and Blend.” The steam function is timed and as soon as it was complete, the blender started whirring. I love that it completes two functions in one compact chamber! When I was finished, I placed it all in the dishwasher.

K and CW Try Out the Baby Brezza

If you have a baby and want to make wholesome, homemade baby food fast, the Baby Brezza is a definite must! For those of you who are like me, your toddler is beyond the pureed food stage; however, using Jessica Seinfeld’s cookbook Deceptively Delicious, I was able to make brownies and applesauce muffins, each with pureed vegetables in them! CW loved the brownies, and my husband rated the muffins extremely high. So, if your kids are not the best about eating vegetables, give the Baby Brezza a try and save yourself a step by steaming and blending in one appliance!
