My baby is now a preschooler, but stick around for video and written reviews of the best baby, toddler and preschool products out there. Because even when as they grow up they're still our babies! And if you're a new Mama, check out my archive for fun and funny video reviews of the baby products that saved my life in those early months at home with a wee one.
But this time, it’s with a cow. And a giraffe. And a pig. And a sheep. And a horse. They are from Australia. Queensland to be exact. Can’t you just hear the twang in their moos and oinks?
My baby got six of these wonderful little guys as a birthday present from her Aunt, Uncle and cousins from Maine. At this point, I adore them as much as she does. And the more I learn, the more I love them.
First of all Animalz are friggin adorable. And they’re fun. They have bendy legs and necks and can all stand on one foot (I am not joking, just look at the website). They each are full of personality and warmth and humor. And they are wooden. Which makes them rich and textured and deep in a way no plastic toy can ever be.
And now for the really good stuff. Animalz are made from organic maple and textile products using nontoxic glue and paint. They give a percentage of each sale to world wildlife organizations. Buy them at your local independent toy store. But if you can’t find them there, Target has them too. Which is awesome really.
Oh and you can register them. You go to the site, enter the unique number printed on the bottom of one foot, name them, and you get a certificate. I just named baby’s cow, Lydia.
And did I mention they all can stand on one foot.?Environmentally friendly, widely available, whimsical and warm? Oh yeah, and the Aussie accent. Yeah, that’s something baby’s gotta have.
Congratulations Mandi! Heather from Zwei Baby will be contacting you shortly via email! Thank you so so much to everyone who entered! It was so exciting to have so many entries. Please check back again because I have an unbelievable September giveaway — a $75 value!!!
Oh yeah, my one-year-old puts her toys away. Sure she does. Every afternoon we play “Watch Baby Trash Her Room” and then she meticulously puts all her things away. Uh huh. Yup.
Splurging on your nursery furniture? Check out this gorgeous open storage systsem from The Land of Nod. It comes in lots of colors and is not crazy expensive, all things considered.
We just spent a glorious first birthday weekend with family on the beautiful Rhode Island coast. A Butterfly Birthday Party! A pinata that just wouldn’t crack (candy and therapy all rolled into one). Chocolate chip pancakes and coffee. Sunburn, ocean waves, humongous bubbles, and cousins! Who could ask for anything more?
Celebrate this milestone with me with a wonderful end-of-summer giveaway thanks to Heather at Zwei Baby! I discovered this Twin Mommy’s unbelievably charming and totally unique Play Dots when I was cruising Etsy for my post on play mats. Heather is a home-based mommy/designer with twin 3 1/2 year old boys. She workshops design ideas with her kids during the day, sews late into the night, and will soon be offering Zwei Baby products in several new shops! Check out her blog for updates as well as Etsy finds, crafts and more!
Just for you, Heather is offering a beautiful Quick Trip Diaper Organizer in pink or blue. When you just don’t feel like taking a diaper bag, tuck one of these clever clutches in your favorite bag and hit the town. These all-in-one changing pads and diaper/wipes holders are made out of the funnest and funkiest fabrics. No chickies and duckies here! This is a diaper organizer for grown-ups. The changing mat is lightly padded for your baby’s comfort, but not too bulky for your bag. The folded organizer measures 12″ by 7″ and snaps snugly closed. It holds several diapers and a travel wipes container in a roomy pouch. Cuz even if you only plan to be out 45 minutes, you still might need two diapers. You know what I mean?
UPDATE: Zwei Baby is now Bundled! Check out their new Etsy shop for more wonderful bibs, wipes, burps, an diaper organizers. They make baby gifts and baby shower gifts!

Ok so for my money, what’s key in infant spoons is a long handle and a soft spoon. At least while you’re still feeding them. Once they are feeding themselves, all bets are off and spoons are optional as far as I can tell. Check out the Soft-Tip Infant Spoons by Munchkin. And here’sZrec’s lowdown on Munchkin and BPA. They give Munchkin only a “fair” rating overall. I’d go elsewhere for bottles. But the spoons are free and clear as are some of the sippy cups.
For a non-plastic feeding spoon option, I am really digging this Bamboo Spoon and Fork Set from Bambu. No nasty chemicals or plastics here! Hey, I’m proud to say my baby was born with a renewable wood feeding spoon in her mouth!
So recently I was all on about the Skip Hop Diaper Bags. Skip Hop makes, among many others, canvas messenger diaper bags that clip to your stroller and are awesome. I have one. I got it for Christmas. Thank you again, honey.
Skip Hop also makes different bags. Neat bags. Trendy bags. Even bags for Target. Check them out.
Recently, thanks to a fantabulous blog giveaway (I’m telling you people, these blog giveaways are awesome!) at The Lil’ Mommy That Could, I won a stroller bag by Mollyanna.com and it arrived in the mail. It was like Christmas in July. And let me say, this bag is awesome too.
Where the Skip Hop Bag is canvas and cool, this one is fabric and gorgeous. So simple. So chic. Where the Skip Hop Bag takes you back to the first day of school with zippers and clips and keychain holders and many many pockets (totally fun, right?), the Mollyanna bag has just two simple snap closures, two pockets for diapers and wipes, and a big central pocket. Mine is “Dark Chocolate” with a gorgeous autumny contrasting fabric liner. It is beautifully made and I love it.
And best of all, these are on crazy sale right now. Like, way better than Target prices sale. Hey, it’s back to school time! Don’t you deserve a new bag too? And at these prices, lust is within reach. Sometimes baby’s gotta have it.
