Mamas & Papas (and New Baby Brothers) Go Sola

I am so happy to share with you all the wonderful news that Kristin and CW welcomed little brother MD on June 6th.  Congratulations to the whole family! Kristin was able to complete this review in the days before MD made his very hasty entrance.  He’ll be riding in style for sure! Thanks to Mamas & Papas for sending Kristin this super sexy stroller to try out!

Mamas & Papas (and New Baby Brothers) Go Sola!

Mamas & Papas Sola Stroller

If you’re having a baby, chances are you feel overwhelmed.  Overwhelmed by the life-changing event that is all-too-quickly approaching.  And, overwhelmed by the choices to be made.  You’ve probably perused Consumer Reports, asked friends’ advice, read parenting magazines, and wandered aisles in your local baby supercenter.  You’ve probably even been to the point where you were so overwhelmed that you were close to tears.  If so, you are not alone.

CW in the Sola Stroller

This is my second time through, and I find myself a little less overwhelmed by the coming changes, but still just as overwhelmed by all the available products.  As soon as I saw the Sola stroller from Mamas & Papas, though, I took a deep breath and realized my concerns were no longer necessary.

Sola Stroller Folded

The Sola came to my door already assembled (except that I had to put on the wheels).  I can assure you, however, that with a quick snap the wheels are in place and you are ready to roll!  The Sola folds up and back out with ease (just a small button on the side that slides up).  With an adjustable foam handle, my husband (6′ tall) and I (5’3″ tall) can easily make the stroller work comfortably for either of us.  And, it has an adjustable footrest and adjustable five-point harness to make your child more comfortable as well. With lockable front swivel wheels and a canopy window in the hood so that you can peek in on that adorable little one, the Sola is extremely well designed and maneuverable.

Best of all, with one simple step you can flip the seat around so that your little one faces you.  There is a simple lever in the back of the stroller that adjusts the seat back, so you can use the Sola for newborns (reclines all the way) and older toddlers (there is a reclining option and a straight back option) up to 50 pounds. In fact, my three year old loves the Sola.  He always asks if he can ride in it, and I look forward to using it with my newborn in a few short weeks.  CW also loves the hood that keeps him dry in the rain (plus it came with a plastic rain cover as well that easily snaps on).  The stroller seats him up higher than our umbrella stroller and our jogging stroller, which is great for keeping his feet off the floor and giving him a great view of the world.  I took him to the zoo in the Sola and he was able to see all of the animals without getting out of the stroller!

Sola Stroller Reclined

After three years of using a super-cheap umbrella stroller, I am converted to the Sola!  I am fully in love with the lightweight frame, the attractive design, the spacious cargo area, the compact size, and the simple operation.  Your search is through – the Sola is the best stroller!  Mamas & Papas clearly designed their strollers to meet both the parents’ and the baby’s needs! To see more, including the four amazing colors (I chose Grass); accessories such as the coordinating footmuff, diaper bag, and parasol; and other items sold by Great Britain’s #1 baby brand, check out their website, Babies R Us, or browse the selection on

Note from Wendy: I was truly impressed by Mamas & Papas products from the first time I tried them out at a preview media event.  I’m always on the lookout for great strollers for city living and in my opinion Mamas & Papas is right up there with the best. When it comes to strollers the Brits get it.  Check them out!
