Have a Happy Henson Halloween – Dinosaur Train Giveaway

Happy Halloween from "Dinosaur Train"

Halloween may be three weeks away but we are more than ready in our apartment.  Our decorations may be kinda lame, and it’s as balmy as a July day, but still, my little Bean is psyched.  We’ve been perusing the oddball gourds at the Farmer’s Market, trying on every possible leotard and tutu combination, weighing the pros and cons, and narrowing in on the costume.  We’ve consumed an entire pack of ghost Peeps…okay I did that all by myself.  In about twenty four hours.  But they get stale really really fast.

Happy Halloween from Sid the Science Kid

Halloween episodes of all the Bean’s favorite shows are hitting the air waves, and I was so excited to hear about new offerings from two of our PBS Kids favorites, “Dinosaur Train” and “Sid the Science Kid,” both from the brilliant Jim Henson Company.  On October 17th you can check out the “Spooky Science Special” starring Sid, Gerald, teacher Susie and the rest of the gang (rebroadcast on the 25th, 28th, 30th and 31st) and tune in October 20th for the Dinosaur Train “Haunted Roadhouse/Big Pond Pumpkin Patch” episode (airing again on the 24th, 28th, 30th and 31st)

Dinosaur Train Buddy Costume

Still searching for that perfect costume for your little trick-or treater?  The PBS Kids website offers patterns for you to create your own Buddy costume (there are sew and no-sew options!) or you can buy one and a personalized matching trick-or-treat bag ready made on their site.  A Tiny Pteranodon costume is also available to buy on the site

We were lucky enough to receive a copy of the new Dinosaur Train Halloween book, “The Spooky Scavenger Hunt” to help get us into the Halloween spirit (thank you Dinosaur Train!).  Written for ages 4 – 8, this fun and educational storybook takes the reader on a nighttime scavenger hunt with Buddy, Tiny, Mr. Pteranodon, and Mr. Conductor.  It is illustrated with colorful, engaging pictures that capture the spirit of the show, and of course, offers age-appropriate information about nocturnal dinosaurs and using your five senses.

And thanks to the great folks at the Jim Henson company, one lucky Babies Gotta Have It reader will win a copy of “The Spooky Scavenger Hunt”.  Want to enter? Read on!

When my boys were 4 and 3 months old they dressed up as Dinosaurs! Those were my favorite costumes! My 4 year old was a blue T-rex and my little guy was a green dino with purple spots. They were the cutest costumes.

My favorite Halloween costume was the Cheer Bear Care Bears costume that my mom sewed for me when I was 5! I have photos of myself wearing that costume, and it was gorgeous! I only wish I was half as creative or good at sewing as my mama, because so far my 3 year old has had to wear store bought costumes. Cute, but not handmade. :)
