I had forgotten about the Bangs Incident. That dreadful day in October of 2008 when I took craft scissors to my sweet baby girl’s hair, and cut her bangs. I cut them way way way way way too short.
Don’t believe me? Look:
Oh yeah, it was bad. Just look at her broken-hearted little face! “Mama! What did you do to me?” But her bangs had gotten so long and I didn’t have any clips and I wasn’t ready for her first haircut and it seemed like it would be so easy. After all, I’ve been getting my hair cut for years. I have seen what they do. I made myself do penance by posting pictures of her every week for the next four weeks on Mama Act. I took responsibility. I owned up. And I have NEVER touched her hair with a pair of scissors again. And I will NOT. Unless she gets gum in it.
So you put this stuff out on the internets, and as it turns out people read it! Sweet Kim Marable, one of the founders of Ribbies Clippies, came across this series of posts and knew I needed help. And that I was in a unique position to help other mothers who might, as I did, feel tempted to take scissors in hand and snip. As Kim points out, in those precious months before you’re ready to take your baby girl for her first haircut, but when the tresses are just a bit out of control, there is no need to cut those wispy bangs! Get cute clippies and pin her little curls back! Ribbies Clippies are sweet little clips, ribbon trimmed and foam lined for extra grippiness. Kim sent us several pairs to try out and we love them! Her ribbon patterns are especially cute and the foam gripper doesn’t get snagged in my sweet girl’s hair as some of the velcro-lined hair clips do. I adore the colors and styles.
In addition to their gorgeous hair clips, Ribbies Clippies also offers an assortment of headbands and pony tail holders. I especially love the felts collection featuring adorable felt flowers on soft elastic bands. They are scrumptious. We were lucky enough to get to sample an assortment of clippies and a felt flower headband. The Bean sported her headband at a Fall trip to a horse farm a few weeks ago and I snapped some photos. I have to say, now that her bangs have finally grown out, she looks adorable.
Ribbies Clippies girls hair clips and hair bows make really wonderful stocking stuffers, or purchase a set and a clippie holder or clippie case as a “big gift.” These clips are wonderful for fine baby hair and hold up well in thick curls too. Even better, Ribbies Clippies is offering free shipping until Christmas!
