Baby’s Bottom Line Review – No Slip Charlie GIVEAWAY!

No Slip Charlie

Ok so trying to bathe a newborn is a bit like trying to bathe one of those hairless cats. Wrestling a squalling, mewling, slippery, squiggly little being into a shallow tub of water, adding soap into the mix, and trying to not only prevent the wee dear from aspirating water, but also hoping to remove some of the congealed spit-up and poop from under her chin…well, it ain’t easy.

What’s a pet owner…or a new mom…to do?

The folks at Mom Sense have a pretty clever idea! The No Slip Charlie! It’s a fingerless glove designed to help you get a grip just when you’re losing your grip on reality! The gloves are made of a poly/lycra fabric that gives you just enough friction to keep hold of that little tadpole. A super-soft terry cloth mitt goes over your fingers and velcros to the glove so you have the washcloth easily available. And just remove the mitt and let your fingers do the walking right through that sweet little head of hair when you need to shampoo. The mitt is machine washable and the gloves can be rinsed and drip-dry (each one even has a little elastic loop for easy hanging). Every package comes with two gloves and two terry mitts. No Slip Charlie’s come in baby girl pink and little boy blue.

The Mom Sense gal was kind enough to send me a pair…so I tried it…and I gotta say, it was pretty darned cool. My baby is out of the slippery eel phase, but I was still able to get a sense of how the gloves provide that extra bit of friction. And I was so jittery and nervous when I was giving those first baths that I really did feel like I was trying to wash a greased pig on a slip and slide. I think these would have helped me feel more secure. The attached mitt option is still useful even for a bigger baby–it’s more streamlined than a normal washcloth and fits snugly over your hands to really allow you to get into all those cracks and crevices!

Baby’s Bottom Line: The No Slip Charlie is a super cool product that will help new moms feel just a bit more confident wading into those early baths. Pair it with a soft baby towel, a rubber duck, and some baby wash for a really unique and practical baby or shower gift!

But wait….there’s more! The awesome folks at Mom Sense have sent along two No Slip Charlies for me to give away to you–one pink and one blue! How do you win? Easy! Just drop me a comment by midnight EST on Tuesday June 17th saying which color you’d like! That’s it. Oh if you want to throw in a haiku or a quote from your favorite John Mayer tune that’s great too. But all you gotta do to win is comment below. I’ll draw two names on Wednesday June 18th and contact you via email if you’ve won! Thanks so much to Kim from Mom Sense (and to her son Charlie who inspired the product) for this awesome giveaway! Giveaway open to those with a U.S. mailing address only.

What a great website! The mittens seem daunting. but I do remember nearly dropping the little guy once or twice. My sis is due (with a boy– blue) in October and could use them!

Loved the section on feely books. I wish Wyatt was so interactive with them. I will be getting him some of those tails soon!

I would love to get her a blue set for her little boy.

However, I was thinking about it today when I was taking my 5 month old out of the bath this evening, how nice it would be to have some for her slippery little booty!

But I think she can use it more than I can!

These look like water skiing gloves to me and not very soft and impracticle taking the top on and of. Velcro will stick to everything in your dryer too. I like BellyLaf’s Grippees way better personally — they cover your fingernails and they are made from eco wash cloth material and have cute designs. Sorry Charlie!

Hey There – just wanted to say that the gloves are very soft – made of poly/lycra (aka womens swimsuit) fabric. The gloves were created with both the comfort of the wearer and the baby in mind. There are lots of great products out there to solve life’s problems. We just happen to think No Slip Charlie solves this problem the best. See the testimonials that back that up:

Thanks for all of the great feedback.
